Instagram Comments Scraper
Public post and reel comments, newest first
What it does
Paste post or reel links, or bare shortcodes, and each public comment becomes a row: the text, the commenter's username and profile link, their id and verified flag, likes, the timestamp and a link that opens that exact comment. Comments arrive newest first, about fourteen per request, and the list keeps going into the thousands. Set newerThan to stop at a date. A logged out visitor gets no replies, no reply counts and no most relevant order, so rows are top level comments only.

Common questions
Which fields are on a comment row? +
commentId, postShortcode, postUrl, commentUrl, text, ownerUsername, ownerProfileUrl, ownerId, ownerIsVerified, ownerProfilePicUrl, likesCount, timestamp, position and scrapedAt. Comment rows have no _type field, so filtering on _type separates them from the summary, info and error rows.
What does it cost? +
A comment is $0.00234 on Apify's free plan and $0.00171 on Gold and above. The $0.003 start fee is charged per run, including a run where every post has comments turned off. Non-post links, duplicates and the summary row cost nothing more.
Can I get replies to comments? +
No. Instagram does not send reply threads, reply counts or parent comment ids to a visitor who is not signed in, so every row is a top level comment. If Instagram ever starts sending repliesCount or parentCommentId, they will appear on the row.
How deep does it actually go? +
Into the thousands. In the makers' test on 23 Oct 2026 it read 3,000 comments from each of two posts, going back 13 days on a post with 7,300 comments, and the whole visible list of two smaller posts with 710 and 989 comments.
What happens when Instagram rate limits a run? +
The whole run pauses for 15, 30, 60 then 90 seconds and retries on a new IP. A post still limited after five tries ends with the rows it has, and three such posts in a row end the run. Nothing undelivered is billed.
